Dentures in Albania: fixed, removable and prices
A dental prosthesis replaces missing teeth when more than one, or a whole arch, is gone. It can be fixed, anchored to implants, or removable, resting on the gum: two different paths in cost, timing and stability, and the choice is made after the examination, not before it.
- Fixed prosthetics on implants, or a conventional removable denture
- Implant-retained overdentures as a middle route
- A dedicated prosthodontics specialist
- European-standard materials and laboratory
- English-speaking support from first contact onwards
- Free treatment plan before you travel
'Dental prosthesis' covers solutions that differ widely from one another. A fixed prosthesis is screwed or cemented onto implants: it does not come out, only the doctor removes it at a check-up, and you clean it daily as you would natural teeth. A removable denture rests on the gum and is taken out for daily hygiene.
Between the two sits a middle route, the overdenture: a removable prosthesis that, instead of resting on the gum alone, clips onto two or four implants with precision attachments. It still comes out for cleaning, but it does not move while you eat or talk — which is the limitation that most often sends patients looking for an alternative to a denture.
The difference in cost between the three is considerable, and so is the difference in comfort and longevity. That is why the assessment always starts from the state of the bone and the gum: not every option is workable in every case, and proposing a fixed prosthesis where the bone will not support it would serve nobody.
How it works, step by step.
- 01
1. Assessment and X-rays
We examine the state of the remaining teeth, the gum and the bone with a panoramic X-ray and, where needed, a CBCT scan. It is this examination that establishes which prosthetic solutions are genuinely workable in your case.
- 02
2. Choosing the solution
We set out the available options — fixed on implants, overdenture, conventional removable — with the timings, costs and day-to-day implications of each. You make the decision, with the full picture in front of you.
- 03
3. Extractions and preparation
Any teeth that cannot be saved are removed and the gum is left to heal for as long as it needs. In the meantime, where indicated, a temporary prosthesis is fitted so you are not left without teeth.
- 04
4. Impressions and try-ins
Impressions are taken and try-ins are carried out across several appointments: vertical dimension, occlusion, tooth shape and shade. This is the stage that determines how comfortable the result is, and it is not compressed.
- 05
5. Fitting and adjustment
The final prosthesis is delivered and adjusted. Small adjustments to the pressure points are normal in the first few days: we make them before you fly home, and we stay available after you return.
How many days and how many trips
A removable denture is normally completed in a single trip, because there is no bone healing around an implant to wait for. It does need several closely spaced appointments for the try-ins, which are the decisive part of the work.
Fixed prosthetics on implants and overdentures follow implant timings instead: two trips, separated by the osseointegration period. Where extractions are planned, gum healing time is added to the first stage.
- Removable denture
- 7–10 days, single trip
- Implant-retained overdenture
- two trips, 3–6 months apart
- Fixed prosthesis on implants
- two trips, as for implant treatment
- Flights
- direct from major European hubs
The materials we use
The material changes with the type of prosthesis and the load it has to carry. Fixed rehabilitations use zirconia or acrylic on a titanium frame; removable ones use prosthetic-grade acrylic resins with commercial teeth selected for shape and shade.
- Monolithic zirconia or acrylic on a titanium frame, for fixed work
- Prosthetic-grade acrylic resins, for removable work
- Precision attachments for implant-retained overdentures
- Digital or conventional impressions, according to the case
